(Parent/Guardian signs child in and out each day and supervises the child until class time).

  • Greetings, “Eye-Opener” Activity, Welcome Song
  • Circle Time-calendar, weather, attendance, songs, discussions
  • Art/Craft: group or individual projects, easel painting
  • Choice Time: classroom centers—blocks, puzzles, dress ups, etc.
  • Large Muscle Time—indoor or outdoor
  • Bathroom/Snack
  • Music class: fun, academic, & Christian songs using sign language
  • Story/end of class review/dismissal

Developmental Goals

Twos

  • Emotional and social skills: help with separation anxiety,
    learn to play cooperatively and to “help”
  • Develop fine and gross motor skills
  • Creative expression through imaginative role-playing,
    puppets, manipulatives, music, and art
  • Language: showing and naming objects, answers yes/no
    questions, uses adjectives, developing pronunciation
  • Literature: develop the ability to recall sequence, understand content and predict outcomes of a simple story
  • Emerging recognition of shapes, colors, numbers, letters
  • Math: sort objects, develop concept of time, quantity, and sequence

Threes

  • Self-help skills:  hang up coat, put toys away, wash hands, etc.
  • Independence through simple problem solving skills
  • Develop longer attention span/follow simple directions
  • Socialization skills:  sharing, taking turns, joining in conversations
  • Develop fine and gross motor skills
  • Math:  1 to 1 correspondence, counting to 5, colors,shapes
  • Reading readiness:  visual discrimination, alphabet awareness
  • PLUS class available on Monday as space permits

Fours

  • Cognitive development through literature, experiments, play, etc.
  • Understand and practice basic health, safety and nutrition
  • Alphabet recognition and formation (upper & lower case)
  • Number recognition and formation to 10, classifying
  • Name recognition and beginning printing skills
  • PLUS class available on Tuesday afternoon as space permits

Pre-K

  • Reading readiness: beginning sounds/phonemic awareness, blending
  • Math readiness:  counting to 20, patterns, sequencing
  • Work more independently and follow multiple step directions
  • Measuring, cooking, etc.
  • Multi-step art projects, use of various     mediums, free-form creative expression

PreK- PLUS

  • Students attends the Pre-K class on MWF, PLUS another specials class on Tuesday.  Open to other 4s students as space permits.
  • More in-depth science experiments
  • team building, group games, organized movement
  • treasure hunts by deciphering clues
  • additional use of critical thinking skills in math, measuring, cooking
