Our Philosophy
At St. John's Westminster Learning Center we strive to surround children with love and imagination. Our goal is to validate a child’s self-worth and confidence by giving him or her tools to successfully interact with others and an academic foundation to build upon. We do this by offering a curriculum that balances play and learning to reinforce skills and concepts needed to be a successful student. Our curriculum also includes a foundational concept of God’s love for them.
Our classes are self-contained, thereby minimizing time lost in transitioning from one room to another. Each classroom has adequate materials for each developmental center. We carefully examined current research in regards to “screen time,” and our consensus is that the adult-child interaction far overrides the need for a specified computer time. As teachers, we believe that we are partners with the family to provide what each individual child needs, and encourage feedback and communication through evaluations of child and staff. The staff welcomes parents to share concerns, information, or give a helping hand.
Our other goal is to remain affordable to families in our community. We are a non-profit center run as a ministry of St. John's Westminster Union Church. Our program is carefully administrated to provide affordability without comprising quality, and our cost reflects that belief.
